DAY POSITIONING

Day Positioning - Upper Abdomen

Caspian

Suitable for adults up to 14 stone and up to 5' 10" in
height. Ideal for respiratory problems, allowing the
chest to be expanded. The holding and moulding
characteristics allow people, especially those with lim-
ited control of their trunk, to feel secure and therefore
reduces the panic situation and gives dignity. This
unit is ideal for those with spinal problems, a kyphosis
or scoliosis. The entire upper region is totally sup-
ported, therefore spreading weight evenly. CASPIAN
has also proved its benefits for use in obstetrics, es-
pecially during labour. When the CASPIAN is face
down (or inverted) the angle created gives an ef-
fective height for postural drainage. Patients relax on
this unit as there are no hard surfaces to endure

Aegean

This unit has the same application as the CASPIAN,
but also copes with people over 12 stone and over
5'4" in height. This unit will also assist patients with
ankylosing spondylitis.

Timor

Ideal for just neck and head support, or can be ap-
plied as for CASPIAN but supporting people under 5'
4" for example children and the frail.

Small Pad

When placed in the back of a chair, the SMALL PAD
gives firm support to the lumbar and lower back.

Celia 2

Designed to cope with a hemiplegic patient whilst sitting in an
easy chair in a home situation, and can be either a left sided or
right sided support. The CELIA 2 has a small pad on the oppo-
site side to the main unit to help give bilateral support and a flap
to stabilise the unit when in position.

Initial reports on this unit have stated that there is less back pain and that facial muscles become more relaxed as the head maintains a midline position, in some patients salivating has ceased. Patients using this unit find the comfort and positioning more conducive for eating and digestion, therefore over a period of time the general well being of the patient is noticed, especially as organs are back in their correct position. Patients and carers are reporting that the correct sitting position can be maintained
over many hours and that the sufferer is reporting that they are comfortable with no slipping and feel their dignity has been restored. The unit is simple to use, aesthetically pleasing, lightweight and extremely transportable.

Barbara

Designed specifically for upper body lateral support,
either for prone or supine lying.
